At Clyde Outboard Services, we don’t just repair and service used outboard engines — we also sell them and stock a wide range of engines, from 2hp to 200hp and above.

Choosing the Right Outboard Engine
Outboard engines come as two-stroke or four-stroke models. They can be operated directly from the engine, with options such as electric start, or from the helm using a remote control box.
The shaft length of an outboard is very important and must match your boat’s transom to ensure the engine performs correctly.
There are three main shaft lengths:
- Short Shaft: 15 inches
- Long Shaft: 20 inches
- Extra-Long Shaft: 25 inches

Auxiliary Outboard Engines
An auxiliary outboard engine is an important part of your boat’s safety equipment. It provides a reliable backup if your main outboard engine fails. Auxiliary outboard engines are also useful for slow-speed manoeuvring, entering and leaving harbour, or getting you safely back to shore.
The size of auxiliary engine you need will depend on the size and type of your boat and how you intend to use it. Having the right auxiliary engine gives you extra peace of mind and added safety when you are on the water.
